The CEO of Pfizner Therapeutics, Dr. Craig J. Venter, said on Wednesday that he is bullish on the Pfizer Inc. IPO.
He said the company’s shares have jumped more than 40% since the news broke in late November.
“Pfizer is in the best position of any company in history to realize this potential,” Venter said.
“It’s a new opportunity for the pharmaceutical industry and the pharmaceutical company is the first company in the history of the industry that I’m bullish on.”
Venter was responding to comments by analysts at Standard & Poor’s on Wednesday.
He believes Pfizer has a strong chance of being the most profitable company in America.
Pfizner has a $2.7 trillion market value, according to Thomson Reuters data.
The company had about $4.3 billion in revenue as of December 31.
Pfizer shares have gained more than 30% this year.
PfiS, the pharmaceutical giant’s specialty drug arm, had more than $4 billion in sales in the first quarter, up 11% from the same period a year ago.
Pfizners specialty drug business has been a major driver of the companys sales growth.PFIZER shares are up about 25% in the past month.
