The most common conditions can be grouped into two categories: inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and cancer.
For patients who are diagnosed with IBD, cannabis is used to relieve pain, which can be helpful in easing the symptoms.
Cannabis can be used for relief of nausea and vomiting as well as to alleviate pain and nausea associated with the condition.
For some patients, cannabis can be administered as an appetite suppressant.
For those with cancer, cannabis has been used to reduce nausea and appetite and to treat the disease.
The combination of cannabinoids can also be used to treat certain cancers.
Medical marijuana can be an important part of treating cancer, according to Dr. Jennifer Tishkoff, a spokesperson for the American Cancer Society.
For instance, if cancer patients have an incurable and terminal condition, cannabis may be used in the treatment of the cancer.
“The combination of cannabinoid therapy and radiotherapy can dramatically improve the quality of life of these patients,” Tishmoff said in a statement.
“Medical marijuana can also reduce the risk of death from COVID-19 and other COVID related illnesses.”
